The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area E-sports Base will be built in Qianhai to expedite the development of the electronics sports (E-sports) industry in the region and promote related cultural exchanges, according to a strategic cooperation framework pact Shenzhen Qianhai Shekou Free Trade Investment and Development Co. Ltd. signed with five partners, including the E-sports Association Hong Kong and General Association of Macao E-sport Industry, on Sept. 5.
According to the cooperation pact, signed at Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Cultural Innovation Town, the six parties will work closely to develop and operate the E-sports base. The six parties aim to achieve win-win joint development by leveraging each party’s complementary advantages and resources.
The six parties will make joint efforts to facilitate the establishment of E-sports clubs and professional tournaments in the Qianhai base in order to help cultivate local E-sports professionals. The six parties also agreed to meet on a regular basis to deepen and widen cooperation and seek the development of supporting commercial services to the E-sports industry.
E-sports are a new form of sporting activities that combine the Internet and sports. The E-sports sector has great development potential. According to Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC), E-sports have overtaken soccer as the sport with most development potential. It is estimated to have more revenue than any other sport. China’s E-sports industry has undergone fast development in recent years.
